Health & Physical Education

Norman Johnston runs two physical education programs that students can track hours towards PE courses or credit recoveries.  PE classes are non-gender specific (open to anyone who wants to participate). This format is meant to be more inclusive and target what type of PE you wish to participate in. Choose one of our 2 regular PE programs or you can check out the outdoors with Rose & Mark on our extremely FUN Outdoor Education days.

 Personal Fitness (8:15 - 9:00):

  • Individualized strength, endurance, and flexibility training
  • Learn various ways to work out
  • Design your own personalized workout program

Healthy Active Living (12:15 - 12:45):

Participation in a wide range of traditional sports, activities, games (e.g., basketball, hockey, soccer, stickball, volleyball, etc.)

  • Mostly team sports, and high impact activities
  • Talk to Mark for more details!


Skating & Hockey Program (after school Mondays & Thursdays):

  • ALL Equipment is provided to students
  • Students learn how to skate and have the opportunity to try out hockey!
  • Program culminates in an annual Staff vs. Student hockey game

Outdoor Education (monthly activities):

  • Students participate in a wide range of outdoor activities including snowshoeing, bird watching, canoeing, caving, hiking, and skiing.  
  • Outdoor Ed. "days" are run once a month and students in good standing (i.e., academics, attitude, & attendance) will have the opportunity to participate.
  • Outdoor Ed. days are able to be used towards a PE credit.
  • Students may also have the opportunity to join the OE block course at the end of the year to. Talk to Mark or Rose for more details!
