How to Apply

Students 16-20 years of age are considered for the program if:

  • they are legal Canadian residents.

  • they reside in the Ottawa-Carleton region.

  • they are looking for an alternative way to access learning.

  • they left school without a diploma and now wish to return to complete their diploma requirements.

To apply to the Norman Johnston Secondary Alternate Program the student must:

  1. Talk to your school's guidance counselor ASAP
  2. Call 613-841-7510 to book a visit to our program
  3. BRING an up-to-date transcript OR credit counseling summary from your home school.
  4. Once the Vice-Principal of the program reviews the application, a determination will be made regarding the suitability of the student to attend the Norman Johnston Secondary Alternate Program.
  5. An intake interview will be scheduled in order to have the student enrolled in the next available Life Skills Course.
